SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

GPI invests in the communities where we live and work.

Relationships span clientele, the engineering and construction groups we work with, the schools and universities our children attend, and non-profits that strengthen society. We relish our opportunities to partner with and invest in our universities, families in need, and youth academic, sports, and recreational programs.

mathcounts

This organization provides engaging math programs and competitions to middle school students across the county. To paraphrase the organization’s eloquently-worded website, some students love math and some fear math; MATHCOUNTS provides a place for both. Travis Wambeke and Andrew Abrams coordinate the North Idaho/Lewiston chapter of MATHCOUNTS throughout the year with the regional competition each February. Local fundraising throughout the engineering and architectural community helps reimburse school travel and registration. The top-scoring individuals or team advances to the state competition, with a chance to compete at the national level.

Travis Wambeke serves on PIRA Board of Directors where he is joining/bolstering efforts to enhance and expand our local ice facility. The current rink, which is ¾ size, was built in 2001 as a temporary facility and is no longer able to meet the needs of its 35,000 patrons each year. Travis serves as a Board member with considerable ties to the design and construction community, bringing this experience to bear on an economical and functional rink approach.

Design & Construction Professionals (DCP) “Bids for Kids” Annual Dessert Auction

After seeing too many kids' names left on a sharing tree days before Christmas 16 years ago, some WSU Capital Planning & Development staff decided to do something about it and auctioned off desserts within their department. That group joined together over a somewhat spontaneous potluck lunch and raised $1,500 for community kids, and a tradition was born. The event has since grown to include Pullman/Moscow's design and construction community, with the proceeds going to Pullman Child Welfare and Family Promise of the Palouse. Hoffman Construction and GPI champion this event annually with a host of generous volunteers. 2019’s event raised $28,750, with the total surpassing $215,000! GPI is a proud to help staff the DCP committee and contribute to this fun and worthy cause each December.
