Continuing our long history of service to WSU’s Research Engineering Campus (REC), GPI’s team provided multi-disciplinary professional services to aid designers and contractors with this 5th landmark REC facility on the Pullman campus. Subsurface exploration and environmental evaluation were performed at the project onset, followed by close collaboration with the design-build contracting team regarding critical geotechnical site design components such as deep foundation support for heavy structural loads over soft, silt and clay sediments.

GPI’s professionals then maintained continuity throughout construction by providing temporary shoring design, earthwork construction testing and special inspection services. This continuity helped the project team rapidly overcome geotechnical construction challenges including deep excavations adjacent to existing structures and variable groundwater conditions, to maintain the project schedule throughout multiple construction seasons.
