RUNWAY EXPANSION

Having our team serve PMRA for decades prior, GPI was proud to be selected as the geotechnical consultant for the PMRA Runway Realignment project; FAA Northwest Mountain Region’s primary 2016-22 funding target. This landmark project  moved over 8 million cubic yards of earth to construct a new runway and taxiway.

GPI provided innovative geotechnical analysis to predict settlement beneath large, staged embankments and helped the project team establish and navigate risk-averse project schedules to reduce settlement, slope stability, and staging impacts beneath the new improvements. GPI also designed and implemented a robust geotechnical instrumentation program, documenting that actual embankment performance confirmed our settlement and stability analyses.
